We are excited to announce the details for the 2021 Open Playground season. The Recreation Department has worked closely with town officials to prioritize safety for everyone this summer while still having fun! We have so many great activities and games planned, theme days, crafts, sports and more!

Open Playground will run 6/28-8/13 from 8:30 AM- 2:30 PM with the option to stay until 4:00 PM for an additional $25 per child per week. You can sign up weekly or for the whole summer. DISCOUNTS ARE SHOWN AT THE END OF CHECKOUT

Children should come each day wearing sunscreen and sneakers. Children should pack a nut free snack, lunch, water and extra sunscreen. There will also be days when children are asked to wear their bathing suit to camp and bring a towel as well as sandals/change of shoes.

Staff will sanitize equipment at the beginning of the day, before the use of any equipment, and after they are done using equipment. Indoor use of the facilities are for bathroom breaks and in case of unexpected inclement weather.

There are no field trips other than three trips to Ames Pond on 7/8, 7/22 and 8/5 and are OPTIONAL. We will be having additional on-site entertainers at no extra cost.

Masks are not required outdoors

We are not required to have small cohorts like last summer.

Program alerts can be found on, email from Stoughton Rec, and the Stoughton Recreation Facebook page

You MUST read the Open Playground Parent Handbook before you register your child. Please read this over with your child as well. As always, if you have any questions please reach out to us at

Open Playground embraces and encourages the idea of free play in a supervised environment. The South School boasts a unique campus giving us access to basketball and street hockey courts, a large shaded playground, picnic tables, a large field space and a baseball diamond. Unlike most summer camps, Open Playground does not follow a strictly regimented day-to-day schedule. Instead, our program offers an extensive selection of activities to participate in, including but not limited to organized sports games and tournaments, arts and crafts instruction, special events, themed activities and on-site entertainers. Children get to exercise the freedom of choice in a structured and supervised environment. Our skilled staff are comprised of high school, college, and post-grad counselors, many of whom are teachers or pursuing a degree in education. Safety and fun are our main priorities - sign up today!

There are no transportation or lunch services.

New! CIT program coming soon - limited space available!

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
